How to use the tap counter
- Tap the big purple button or press SPACE/↑ to add one to the active category.
- Press ↓, click −1, or click Undo last to reverse a tap.
- Add a new category with the + Add category button, then click any category chip to switch to it — each category keeps its own count and timeline.
- Optionally set a numeric Target. Progress and a soft sound (when enabled) tell you when you have hit it.
💡 Everything is saved to this browser only. Close the tab, reopen it later, and your categories, counts, targets, and timeline are still there. Use Reset all to wipe everything.
What people count with a tap counter
- Inventory & stock takes. Count identical items during a warehouse audit without losing your place.

Why multiple categories matter
Real counting jobs are almost never just one thing. Traffic surveys separate cars, trucks, and cyclists. Fitness workouts have sets and reps. Attendance often splits adults, children, and staff. Rather than pull out a second physical clicker each time, add a category and switch instantly — the timeline records which category each tap belonged to.
Privacy
Everything runs and saves in your browser only. There is no login and no server call. If you clear this browser's site data, your counter data resets.
FAQ
Can I count more than one thing at once?
Yes. Add as many named categories as you want (Adults, Children, Cars, Trucks, Reps...). Each has its own count, target, and timeline.
Do the counts save when I close the tab?
Yes. Everything saves to your browser's localStorage — nothing is uploaded.
Can I undo a tap?
Yes. Click Undo last to remove the most recent tap from the active category, or press ↓ or click −1 to subtract from the count.
Is there a keyboard shortcut?
Yes. SPACE and ↑ both add one; ↓ subtracts one. Focus the big purple stage first.
Does it work offline?
Once the page has loaded, yes — the tool has no runtime network calls.
Can I set a target?
Yes. Enter a positive number in the Target field. Progress appears on the stage and a soft click plays when you reach the target (if sound is enabled).
Does it work on mobile?
Yes. Any tap on the stage counts. Vibration is not used (some browsers ignore it), but sound feedback is available.
